I have been working as a silver/gold smith for some years now, having come from a background of teaching Resistant materials in a large comprehensive school.
On discovering silversmithing, I found an area of creativity that is exciting and stimulating; there is really no end to the skills and techniques that one can learn, and I am constantly striving to discover and develop these.
Being someone who loves colour, using beautiful gems is an essential ingredient in my designs, which is why I have devoted many hours of learning and practicing different ‘stone-setting’ techniques. Enamelling is yet another way of being able to introduce colour, and another technique that I have enjoyed developing and applying. Each piece of my work is validated by the London Assay Office, with my own hallmark, indicating and denoting the authenticity of the metal.
I am lucky enough to have a beautiful studio at home, that I built with my husband, which overlooks a pretty garden; a perfect setting for creativity.
I am happy to take commissions, and now offer one-to-one half-day courses, where participants can make their own diamond ring, or even arrange to each make one with a friend.
