My name is Lou and I happily started sculpting mid way through life having spent fifteen years as a Picture Framer, which I also still love.
I am passionate about nature and take my inspiration from the stunning natural world around us. My work is full of intricate detail and precise forms, replicating the myriad textures, shapes and contours of our wonderful planet’s flora and fauna: it’s therefore always intriguing to see how each piece turns out as no two are ever the same.
I produce all my editions in limited numbers – nothing is mass produced, and I take great delight in casting my sculptures myself, with each one being hand-finished to create a unique piece.
I love to blend-in materials found in nature to give each sculpture an organic colouration. I use silver, copper, bronze, iron and slate, so that over time some can be weathered by their environment. This process enriches and changes the intensity of their appearance as they age, a bit like us really!
I support the Alzheimer’s Society and donate from every sale of my work to this worthy cause. The Society is the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity for people living with dementia, their families and carers.
